Early 1900's Vintage Mohair Straw Filled Bear

This handsome antique center-seam, "football" bodied, 18" Mohair Bear is in very good condition (considering his age, c1910-15?). His mohair covering is quite good, with minor wear in just a few spots. He sports a very nice vintage pair of felt shoes with button closures. Articulated arms and legs (disk and metal rod type joints), though head appears to have been carefully reinforced with cotton stitching (see detail photo) and thus does not swivel. Pads show some wear and some light repair. Wear to left paw pad shows his original wood wool stuffing is in excellent condition.

In the photos his front views are a bit overexposed and so they look somewhat lighter than they actually are, but he has spent most of his life sitting on display, and is a slightly darker honey color mohair on his back portions. His shoes are a bit faded, but not as much as they look in the photos either. If he has a growler, he's not saying. Glass eyes. The left eye is solid and strong but has a crack, and may have been neatly glued together. Wool stitched nose and mouth details. No buttons or tags, but I'm pretty sure he's a natural born U.S. citizen. Perfectly suitable in your collection as he is, and/or a very good candidate for a newer restoration.
